As The Country Crumbles

Here’s my proposal for a new reality show, titled “As The Country Crumbles.” It’s the real life story of a typical couple who still believes in the American dream. We watch them pay off $200,000 in college debt, $400,000 for a home mortgage and then, when they reach old age, they find that their retirement funds have been absconded by some slick talking Wall Street fund manager. In the latest episode we find our ever-hopeful couple, now in their 60′s, picking tomatoes in Florida as a crop duster sprays them with toxic chemicals. Though the husband has advanced prostate cancer and the wife suffers from dementia, they are hopeful that President Quayle will not veto the Shoot-the-elderly-and-put-them-out-of-their-misery bill. This bill will help all those who are old and sick but, most importantly, it will help reduce the budget deficit that was made worse by President Gingrich when he reduced the taxes on all millionaires and billionaires to zero percent.
