FaceBook has become the de facto local pub or town square where folks can get together and discuss the day’s problems. Here’s an exchange of ideas that illustrates the difficulty of addressing the serious problems we face in America. The difficulty, as you’ll soon see, is not FaceBook.
The discussion starts with a post and image from my friend Jim Wright, Jr. Jim and I don’t see eye to eye on everything but we’ve been able to find numerous points of agreement. But someone else joined the discussion and the tone changed.

Here is the link posted by Mic Kilroy at the end of this exchange: http://voxday.blogspot.com/2012/01/israel-firster-is-fact.html

Of course this argument is about where to draw lines. Crony capitalism, government and religion merging and other extra constitutional actions corrupt the system.
I believe the founders were wise beyond today’s generation because they warned us of the abyss that we have fallen into. Their knowledge on history allowed them to craft documents with protections against the foolishness both sides are engaged in and methods for changing the rules.
Ignoring the limitations for your own or your factions power has led us to this Orwellian state we are in. The language that the powers that be use is indecipherable and changes at their whim.
I am more frustrated by the fact that I need a new dictionary every day to understand that including everyone means apartheid and racist means 1%ers.
These twists of language makes discussions incomprehensible. I don’t care who started it. But until we learn to understand the language communication is impossible.
Until both sides are honest with themselves and states their true beliefs this is all just a game of hiding true intentions until power is gained when you get the ability to rewrite your own definitions.
It used to be hard to tell when someone was lying now it’s all recorded for all to see and distort to their own ends confusing the masses even more.
As protection mechanisms we retreat to our own corners. To quote Jeff
“The inner me is bursting at the seams with so much to say and so much to do. Get out of my way is my daily mantra. Move over! Big changes are here and more to come! Of course I must still be cautious. There are still those who will pick up a stick and start jabbing, and even if I can withstand the pain, I still feel it. But in my head I know what to say. You gotta a problem with me, buddy? Well, fuck you! Go live your miserable dessicated life in that hole in the ground you crawled out of.”
Both in our personal worlds and in society today.
How much does one influence the other?
We are on opposite ends of the spectrum we dig in our heals and lament the other sides inflexibility.
“You can’t change someone else only yourself”, we know to be true but that’s the hardest thing to do. It’s much easier to blame someone else, pass the buck, ignore or distort reality to fit our positions than do what we know we should.
Stop projecting your realities to me. Hold up a mirror. When you assign motives to me I understand your motives. Accuse me of something and I know what you are doing or thinking. Does it salve your sole to blame me of your foibles?
Thanks for the opportunity to rant.
